Seniors Joey Doganiero and Dylan Prough scored 22 and 18 points, respectively as they helped guide the Wellsboro Varsity boys basketball team to a 73-40 win over Williamson Thursday night.
The Hornets jumped out to a 21-11 first quarter lead and scored 21 more points to close out the first half and take a 42-20 lead going into the half. In the second half the Hornets scored 18 points in the third quarter and 13 in the fourth while allowing only 20 total points in the half for Williamson to take the victory.
Dylan Prough continued his dominance in the paint as he scored 18 points for the fourth straight game, and grabbed 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
Sophomore Dawson Prough had 13 points on the night, Junior Kieron Smethers had 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks, and Junior Michael Pietropola had 9 points to round out the scoring.
In the J.V. game, the Hornets lost 42-20. Freshman Jacob Singer led the team with five points and Freshman Alden Weiner and Sophomore Rich Tardieu each contributed four points.
With the win, the Hornets' fourth straight, brings their record to 16-5 (8-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action to close out the regular season on Tuesday, February 11 as they travel to Northeast Bradford.
