Wellsboro track teams top Wyalusing

The Wellsboro boys and girls track team finished the NTL regular season with wins against Wyalusing Tuesday night.

The boys team won 100.5-49.5 improve to 6-3 (5-3 NTL) while the girls won 107.5-42.5 to finish undefeated at 9-0 (8-0 NTL).

For the boys, Junior Dan Brooks won the 100m run (11.99) with Senior Mitch Snyder in 3rd (12.54). Brooks (25.02) and Freshman Alex Granger (25.93) took home the top two spots in the 200m, while Senior Jordan Jackson took home 1st in the 400m run in 51.44.

In the 800m run Senior Bobby Hill won in a time of 2:04.14 and Junior Joey Doganiero, was 2nd at 2:11.0. Hill went on to win the 1600m run (4:40.26) and was followed by Freshman Dakota Cleveland in 2nd (5:25.11). Jordan Jackson won the 3200m run in 10:21.29.

Sophomore Jack Chambers won both the 110m hurdles (18.86) and the 300m hurdles (44.76), with Junior Blair Carson finishing second in the 110m at 18.94.

The relay teams won each event on the night, with the 4x100m team running 45.83, the 4x400m team running 3:37.2, and the 4x800m team running 8:54.97.

In the throwing events, Junior Blake Gamble finished 2nd in the shot put (39' 1") and the discus (106' 4"), and Sophomore Nick Marple was 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 146'.

Senior Thomas Straniere won the pole vault at 10' 6", Freshman Rich Tardieu was 2nd in the high jump (5' 6"), Snyder was 2nd in the long jump (18' 11") and won the triple jump (38' 10").

For the girls, Sophomore Lauren Bleggi won the 100m run in 13.51, Sophomore Ashley Johns was 2nd in the 200m run (29.1), and Bleggi won the 400m run (1:05.45) followed by Sophomore Caitlynn Butler in 2nd at 1:07.26.

The Hornets swept the 800m and 1600m runs. In the 800m, Senior Randi Grim took home 1st in 2:36.51, Senior Becky Chambers was 2nd (2:38.38), and Butler was 3rd (2:44.5). In the 1600m, Freshman Camryn Keane was 1st (6:18.46), Sophomore Annie Sweeney was 2nd (6:19.23), and Freshman Samantha Bailey was 3rd (6:29.27).

Freshman Jordyn Coffee took home the top spot in the 3200m run with a time of 13:14.88 and was followed by Bailey in 14:35.78.

Senior Mackenzie Marple won the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.55, while Freshman Jada Jackson won the 300m hurdles in 49.0.

The Wellsboro 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams each won on the night, with times of 4:24.05 and 11:20.5, respectively.

In the field, Junior Alex Kurtz won the shot put (28' 10"), Senior Hannah Zuchowski was 2nd in the discus (76' 3"), Senior Jessie Catherman won the javelin (102' 6"), Junior Kaelyn Keane was 1st in the high jump (4' 10"), Senior Sarah Kramer was 2nd in the pole vault (9'), Senior Kimberly Acorn won the long jump (15' 5.5"), and Jada Jackson was 2nd in the triple jump (32' 11").

Both teams will be in action this Saturday, May 11 as they travel to Athens for the NTL League Meet.
