In a must win to advance match for the Wellsboro Varsity volleyball team, the Lady Hornets topped Coudersport 3-2 to qualify for District IV playoffs.
After dropping the first game 25-20 the Lady Hornets battled back to take the second game 25-18, but lost 25-18 in the third. In the crucial fourth game, the team won 25-22 and iced the match in the fifth game 15-12.
The win put the team at 9-9 overall on the season, qualifying them for District IV play.
Junior Peyton Wilson led the team with 14 points and 1 ace, Junior Danielle Mihalik recorded 18 kills and 8 points, and Senior Katie Straniere made 41 digs on the night. Also pitching in were Senior Kaelyn Keane with 9 kills and 5 blocks, Junior Jordan Butters with 12 points, Senior Maggie Smith with 20 digs, and Senior Alex Kurtz with 18 digs and 3 blocks.
The Lady Hornets will now face rival Mansfield on Saturday, October 26 at Williamson High School. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
