Junior Dylan Prough and Sophomore Michael Pietropola combined for 38 points as Wellsboro swept Mansfield with an 80-52 win Wednesday night in Wellsboro.
Pietropola led the team with 20 points on the night and Prough added 18 to go along with a career-high 19 rebounds to put the Hornets one win away from clinching the NTL West title.
Senior Jordan Jackson added 11 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, Senior Matt Reese scored 10, and Junior Joey Doganiero and Sophomore Kieron Smethers had eight points each. Sophomore Nick Marple scored two with Freshman Dawson Prough chipping in with three points to round out the scoring.
In the JV game, the Hornets fell to Mansfield 43-38, snapping a four-game win streak. Dawson Prough led the Hornets in the game with 14 points.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 17-1 (7-0 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Friday, February 1 as they travel to Cowanesque Valley and look to clinch the NTL West title.
