The Wellsboro Middle School volleyball team continued their undefeated season with a 2-0 (25-8 & 25-19) win over Canton on Monday night.
Canton had a young team with only 10-12 girls, so many of the younger Lady Hornets saw time in the A game.
"The seventh graders worked well together last night and were able to implement the bump, set, spike several times," said head coach Jenn Outman.
"Amber Weiskopff had a fantastic game, as well as Kyra Keck. Amber took charge on the court and was a true leader," Outman stated.
In addition to the play of these girls Sydney Tremper had an excellent night serving, racking up 13 serves in a row to pace the Lady Hornets to victory.
In the B game, Wellsboro lost 22-25 and 22-25.
"The scoreboard did not reflect how well they played," said Outman. "The girls are starting to get a good feel for the game. There were several bumps, sets, spikes during both sets. I am very proud at their improvement and hard work. At this level, learning how to play correctly (fundamental skills and basic concepts) is more important than the win/loss record. This will prepare them for the future."
The team will be back in action on Tuesday, October 1 as they host Athens.
