The Wellsboro Varsity volleyball team continued the NTL Division 1 struggles as they fell to Mansfield 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Mansfield took the first game 25-16, Wellsboro won the second 25-23, and Mansfield won the third 25-17. The Lady Hornets rallied to tie the match at 2-2 with a 25-14 fourth game victory before Mansfield held on 15-12 to claim the match.
Senior Kaelyn Keane recorded 10 kills, 18 points, 2 aces, and 5 blocks. Junior Peyton Wilson had 16 assists, Senior Alex Kurtz and Junior Danielle Mihalik each had 8 points and 2 aces, Senior Maggie Smith had 22 digs, and Senior Katie Straniere had 25 digs.
In the J.V. match, the Lady Hornets topped Mansfield 2-0 (25-9 & 25-11) to improve to 13-2. Sophomore Haley Zuchowski led the team with 12 points, Sophomore Darci Warriner had 4 kills, and Sophomore Mikayla Feil had 4 kills and 3 blocks on the night.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 6-9 (2-7 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 17 at Wyalusing.
