Lady Hornet volleyball tops Athens in three

The Wellsboro Varsity volleyball team picked up an NTL Division 1 win over Athens in three games on Tuesday night.

The Lady Hornets won all 3 games 25-20. Junior Danielle Mihalik led the team with 9 kills and 8 points, Senior Alex Kurtz had 9 assists, Senior Katie Straniere recorded 17 digs, and Junior Jordan Butters had 6 kills and 8 points.

In the J.V. match, the Lady Hornets won 2-0 (25-11 & 25-19) for their 11th win of the season. Freshman Morgan Florio led the team with 8 points, and Freshman Kirsten Florio had 5 kills in the win.

With the win, the Varsity team improves to 6-7 (2-6 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, October 14 as they host Williamson.
