The JV Hornet baseball team tied Mansfield as the game was called for darkness after 6 innings.
The Hornets jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after two innings behind the arm of Freshman Sam Moss and the offense clicking on full gear. The Tigers fought back in the third and fourth innings, scoring four runs in the third, and five in the fourth. Freshman James Mundy came in to stop the bleeding for the Hornets giving up three runs, two earned over the final three innings, while striking out four.
The Hornets offense was led by Freshman Anthony Cooper and Sophomore Dylan Widows, scoring three runs a piece. Freshman Nick Tremper and Cooper had two hit games. Freshman Joe Allen, Sophomore Nick Levindoski, Moss, and Rusty Krystoff all added hits for the Hornets with Krystoff's hit being a double. The Hornets forced the Tigers to field the ball all night with only 5 strikeouts on the night.
With the tie, the Hornets are now 0-2-1 on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, April 11 as they travel to Williamson.
