The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team started the 2013 season off with an impressive 8-1 win over Towanda Thursday night.
Wellsboro socred three first half goals as Junior Jack Chambers scored at 31:26 off an assist from Sophomore Tucker Worthington. Worthington scored at 27:07 mark off an assist from Sophomore Quinten Curneir. Freshman Josiah Hill capped the scoring in the half at 15:00.
At 36:50 of the second half Curneir scored and at 21:14 Hill scored off an assist from Senior Cody DeHaas. Junior Gillan Alafoginis scored at 18:07 off an assist from Junior Austin Haskins and Worthington scored at 15:28 off a Curneir assist, while Senior Erik Stemcosky scored at 9:27.
With the win, the Hornets start the season at 1-0 (1-0 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 7 as they host Mansfield.
