The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team secured a 4-1 NTL victory over Towanda Wendesday on Senior Night.
Senior Erik Stemcosky put the Hornets up 1-0 just four minutes into the game when he connected on an assist from Freshman Josiah Hill. Towanda would battle back to tie up the game in the 12th minute, but it was all Wellsboro from there.
Stemcosky scored again in the 23rd minute off an assist from Senior Dan Brooks and again in the 24th minute off an assist from Junior Gillan Alafoginis to complete the hat trick.
Hill scored in the 75th minute off an assist from Sophomore Tucker Worthington to round out the game.
Junior Jake Mitchell recorded 3 saves in goal for the Hornets on four Towanda shots.
"I am happy with the win after playing back to back nights," said head coach John Shaffer. "It was senior night and it was great to send the seniors out with a win. We did not play our best but it is a sign the program is improving when you can be slightly disappointed even with a victory. We have two days to rest up until our final home game with Williamson Saturday morning."
With the win, the Hornets improve to 12-3 (12-3 NTL).
