The three members of the Wellsboro track team ended their season at the PIAA State Meet on Saturday at Shippensburg University.
Freshman Jada Jackson, competing in her first meet, finished 14th overall (6th in her heat) with a time of 1:00.85, and took home 11th place in the triple jump at 35' 4.25".
Seniors Bobby Hill and Jordan Jackson, who have qualified for three state competitions this year each, both had good days on Friday's qualifying rounds. For Jackson, he finished 6th in his heat for the 800m in 1:58.77, and Hill was 4th in his 1600m heat with a time of 4:31.97.
On Saturday, Jackson ended his season just missing out on a medal, finishing in 9th place in the 800m with a time of 2:01.68.
"I was happy to make it into finals on Friday, but I bit disappointed with my finish in finals," Jackson said. "I didn't have the greatest of races. The conditions were not the best, with winds nearly blowing people over, and my race being restarted twice, but those are not excuses."
Hill, however, capped off an exellent career on Saturday with his first state medal as he finished in 7th place in the 1600m run in 4:35.64. Hill started the race near the front, running right behind the leaders. Then about halfway through he began to fade out of the medals but finished strong enough to sneak back in them at the end.
"It feels amazing," Hill exclaimed. "I'm really happy I made it to this point, I really wanted a medal."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Bobby, Jordan, and Jada on their track seasons, and thank them for their hard work and dedication.
