The Wellsboro Middle School boys basketball team defeated Towanda Monday night at home, 50-32. Dawson Prough led the Hornets offensively with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Tony Cooper finished with 7 points and 11 rebounds. Joe Allen had 9 points, Nick Tremper had 4 points and James Mundy, Jake Singer and Wyatt Wood chipped in 2 points each.
"This was probably our most complete game of the year," said head coach Dan Marple. "Dawson did a great job passing the ball and forcing the defense to be honest by hitting shots and Tony boxed out and worked vey hard on the boards."
In the B-Team game, Wellsboro won 22-12. Jake Singer and Brandon Bower shot well and had 10 and 8 points respectively. Brandon Lamphier and Alden Weiner each chipped in with 2 points.
With the win, the Hornets improve their record to 5-6 on the year.
