The Lady Hornets suffered another loss last night to Athens, by a score of 47-32. Leading scoring for the Hornets was Mackenzie Marple with 10 points, followed by Kimberly Acorn (7), Raina Rogers (6), Hannah Zuchowski (4), Andrea Dean (3), and Taylor Acorn (3).
"Despite the outcome, it was a good effort by the girls tonight," said coach Mary Grab. "After coming off a very disappointing loss and a poor overall performance two nights ago at Sayre, I was proud of our girls for the amount of grit, determination and intensity they showed this evening. It's always nice to see fairly even scoring across the team: in order to win everybody needs to contribute," she commented. "Everyone just needs to contribute a few more points and a little more consistency in terms of accuracy."
Shooting percentage from the floor for the varsity squad was just 35%. With the loss, the Lady Hornets record fell to 7-6 (6-1 NTL West).
The Junior Varsity squad was overpowered by Athens, losing by a score of 29-13. Jordan Butters was high scorer with 11 points. Athens' intense defense forced 31 turnovers by the Hornets, who shot just 30% from the floor. The team will be back in action Tuesday, January 31, as they host Towanda.
