The Wellsboro boys track team picked up their first league win of the year as they beat Troy, 90-60. Junior Jordan Jackson picked up wins in both the 400m and 800m runs with times of 51.2 and 1:58, respectively.
In the 1600m run, Junior Bobby Hill finished third with a time of 4:45. In the 3200m run, Senior Bob Owlett took the top spot with a time of 10:17.
The Hornets took the top spot in all three relay events. In the 4x100m the team of Dan Brooks, Mitch Snyder, Nick Marple, and Michael Pietropola won in a time of 46.7. In the 4x400m the Hornets took first with a time of 3:40, and followed up in the 4x800m with a time of 8:38.
Wellsboro dominated the jumping events as Sophomore Dylan Prough took top spot in the high jump (5' 6") and the long jump (19' 4"), Junior Thomas Straniere took first in the pole vault (11' 0"), and Senior Sam Mitchell won the triple jump (36' 0").
In the throwing events, Senior Chase Barnes took the top spot in the shot put (39' 7"), Junior Chad Daugherty took second in the discus (104' 3"), and Nick Marple won the javelin with a throw of 137' 8".
With the win the Hornets improve their 2012 season record to 3-2 (2-2 NTL Large). The team will be back in action on Thursday, May 3, as they host Athens and Sayre.
