The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team picked up their first win of the 2012 season as they topped Williamson, 2-1.
Williamson took an early lead in the 37th minute and led 1-0 going into the half. In the second half, Freshman Dawson Prough tied the game two minutes into the half off an assist from Gillan Alafoginis. Seven minutes later, Junior Erik Stemcosky scored on an assist from Dawson Prough for the game-winning goal.
Sophomore Goalie Jake Mitchell had 3 saves in the game.
"In the first half we did not have the fire in our bellies that we needed," said head coach John Shaffer. "After a good talk at half time the boys played their best half of soccer all year. I could not be prouder of them in the second half."
With the win, the Hornets improve to 1-3 overall (1-3 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 13 as they travel to Sayre to face the Redskins.
