The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team fell to Troy for the second time this season tonight in Wellsboro, 1-0.
Troy's Shane Miller scored the game's only goal to record the non-league win for the Trojans. Sophomore Goalie Jake Mitchell recorded 8 saves for the Hornets.
"We played our best game of the season tonight," said head coach John Shaffer. "We were beaten by an individual piece of brilliance from Shane Miller. We defended very well tonight giving Troy very few clear cut chances.
"On the attacking end we continue to lack that cutting edge. We had opportunities but either missed the goal or hit it right to their goalie. If we continue the way we are playing the goals will come and we can win a lot of games in the run in," concluded Shaffer.
In JV action, the Hornets fell to Troy 2-0.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 3-7-1 overall (3-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 29 as they host Towanda.
