Athens ends Wellsboro's undefeated season

The Athens Wildcats defeated the Hornets 65-34 last night in Varsity action to give Wellsboro their first loss of the year. Sam Mitchell led the team in scoring with 11 points. Michael Pietropola contributed 5 points while Dylan Prough and Chase Barnes scored four points a piece, Jordan Jackson and Joey Doganiero netted three while Matt Reese and Brandon Pierce had two points each.

In JV action, the Hornets improved to 7-4 after a 48-43 win. Kieron Smethers had 15 points, Pietropola dropped 12, and Nick Marple finished with 9 points to carry the team. The Hornets will be back in action Friday, January 20 as they travel to Canton for a non-league contest.
