Senior Taylor Acorn signed her letter of intent today, April 27, to join the track team at Kutztown next year. Acorn, who plans on majoring in Radio and TV Broadcasting, visited both Mansfield University and Kutztown before being offered a financial scholarship to attend Kutztown to participate in the 100m, 200m, 4x400m relay.
"It was a difficult decision as I weighed my options based on distance from home, different courses of study, and size of Track and Field program," said Acorn. "Kutztown offers a great opportunity for me to possibly compete at the national level."
"After having such a successful high school track career, I'm happy to see that Taylor is planning to continue running at the collegiate level. Kutztown is a good fit for her," said head coach Jeff Zuchowski. "The competition in Division II will be challenging for Taylor, but she should be able to make an immediate impact with the team."
Acorn currently holds the top spots in the 100m (12.66), 200m (26.42), and is part of the top 4x100m (50.9), 4x400m (4:09.38) and 4x800m (10:55) relay teams.
"Her times are very similar to Kutztown's top sprinter this year, who is a freshman. They will be able to push each other every day in practice, and both should continue to improve.
"I will not only miss Taylor's accomplishments during meets, but also her personality away from the track. After four years of track, we've had a lot of memorable times together, and I wish her nothing but success in the future," Zuchowski concluded.
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Taylor on her signing, and wish her the best of luck as she concludes her senior season and at the collegiate level.
