The Wellsboro girls tennis team improved to 5-3 in 2011 season as they defeated the Liberty Mounties, 5-2. The evening started out very even, with the teams splitting lopsided wins in the top four singles matchups. Wellsboro finished strong, though, with Christine Kennedy grinding out a hard fought 5th singles victory over Katey McCloskey, and teaming with Taylor Russell to win the last 5 games to clinch the 2nd doubles victory. Ashley Evans and Raina Rogers' strong net play was a real strength in their win at 1st doubles.
Wellsboro will return to action Monday, September 19, as they host Bucktail. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m.
