Girls tennis squeaks past Liberty

The girls tennis team defeated Liberty 4-3 Monday night in Wellsboro. The evening started out very even, with the teams splitting lopsided wins in the top four singles matchups. Liberty took the lead into doubles play on the strength of a 5th singles victory that was highlighted by a 9-7 tie-breaker. Wellsboro finished strong, though, winning 1st doubles to tie the match, and then persevering in an exciting 2nd doubles final set tie-breaker to seal the team win.

With the win, Wellsboro improves to 7-5 on the year. The team will be back in action Wednesday as they travel to Bucktail.
