Girls soccer falls to Athens

The Wellsboro girls soccer team fell to Athens in NTL play Friday night by the final score of 1-0. Wellsboro started off flat in the first 10 minutes of the game allowing Athens to get on the board early as Kiersten Horton scored the only goal of the game at the 6:33 mark. Wellsboro played a great passing game in the second half and developed numerous chances to put the ball on net., were just unable to finish. With the loss, Wellsboro falls to 3-3 on the year.

In JV action, the Hornets fell to Athens, 1-0. Kieran Riban scored the only goal of the game off an assist from Aubrey Sumner. With the loss, the JV team falls to 0-2-1 on the year.

Wellsboro will be in action on Monday, September 19, as they host rival Mansfield. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
