The Wellsboro Girls Basketball team won their fourth straight game with a 36-10 victory over Towanda on Friday, January 29.
The Lady Hornets dominated from the opening tip to the final buzzer as they held Towanda to just 10 total points. Wellsboro held a 12-2 lead after the first quarter and pushed their lead to 20-6 at halftime. The Hornets then outscored Towanda 16-4 in the second half for the NTL Division 1 win.
Before the game, Athletic Director Matt Rendos honored seniors Sarah Ingerick, Jada Jackson, and Alexa Singer along with honoring Ingerick, who became the ninth Lady Hornet to score 1,000 career points in the team's 51-46 win over Wyalusing on Wednesday.
Ingerick scored a game-high 14 points, blocked two shots, and grabbed five rebounds to lead the team. Jackson scored nine points and pulled down 15 boards, sophomore Lizzie Poirier scored six points, Singer finished with four, junior Jessica Grab had two, and junior Autum Kitajima rounded out the scoring with one.
The Wellsboro JV team beat Towanda 40-27 to improve to 16-3. Freshman Julia Smith scored 13 points to lead the team.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 15-4. The team will be back in action this afternoon for their final regular season home game of the year against Mifflinburg.
