The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team suffered a 3-2 NTL Large School Division loss to Towanda on Thursday, October 13.
Towanda won the first two sets 25-19, 25-23 but the Lady Hornets battled back to win the third 25-21 and tied it up at 2-2 with a 25-16 fourth set win. Towanda then held on for a 15-10 win in the fifth set to win the match.
Seniors Kirsten Florio and Morgan Florio both scored 13 points and senior Kaeli Butters scored 11. Kirsten Florio also had 4 aces, 22 kills, 5 blocks, and 3 digs. Morgan Florio finished the night with 2 aces, 13 kills, 18 digs, and 2 blocks. Junior Sydney Tremper made 23 digs on the night, senior Olivia Kurtz had 19 digs and 5 kills, and junior Brianne Keane scored 10 points, had 3 kills, 39 assists, and 7 digs.
The JV team remained undefeated with a 2-0 (25-15, 25-15) win. The young Lady Hornets are now 18-0.
The loss drops the Varsity team's record to 11-7. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, October 18 at home against Troy.
