The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team picked up a 3-2 win over rival North Penn-Liberty on Tuesday, September 27.
The Lady Hornets won the first set 25-17, before North Penn-Liberty took sets 2 and 3 25-20 and 25-23. Wellsboro rebounded 25-13 in the fourth set and held on for a 15-10 win in the fifth to win the match.
Senior Kirsten Florio led the team with 20 kills, 17 digs, 9 points, and 2 aces. Senior Morgan Florio had 13 kills and 25 digs, junior Jillian Graver had 9 points, 10 kills, and 3 blocks, junior Brianne Keane scored 14 points and had 34 assists, junior Hannah Burnett had 11 assists.
Kirsten Florio also added 5 blocks, and junior Cheyenne Sherman made 3 blocks.
In the JV game, Wellsboro won 2-0 (25-23, 25-17) to remain undefeated at 11-0.
The win improves the Varsity team's record to 6-5. The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 29 against Cowanesque Valley.
