Senior Tucker Worthington recorded a hat trick as the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team shut out Northeast Bradford 10-0 on Monday, September 28.
Worthington scored his first goal with roughly 31 minutes remaining off an assist from by junior Josiah Hill. Hill assisted sophomore Tanner Runyan on the Hornets' second goal with 26:57 left in the first half to put Wellsboro up 2-0. Four minutes later, Worthington scored his second goal unassisted to make the score 3-0 Hornets.
Senior Sean Dooley scored the Hornets' 4th goal on an assist from Runyan and Worthington scored his final goal on a penalty kick with 6:42 left in the first half to make it 5-0.
The Hornets added five more second half goals as senior Joe Allen (sophomore Gabe Leach assist), Hill (senior Nick Webster assist), Allen again off an Hill corner kick, and Hill unassisted, and freshman Brett Rudy (junior Jacob Singer assist) to end the scoring.
"The boys played really well tonight," said head coach John Shaffer. "They had some amazing passing patterns. We could have finished better but that's about it. I'm Very happy for the boys, they clinched their birth in districts and now it's about playing for a seed."
The JV team also shut out Northeast Bradford 4-0 on the night. Freshman Cam Tennis scored two goals and sophomores Devin Webster and Ryan Stough each had one.
The win extends the Hornets' win streak to 9-0 (6-0 NTL). The boys will be back in action on Wednesday, September 30 as they travel to Troy.
