The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 46-35 victory over Troy on Tuesday, January 27.
The Lady Hornets struggled iearly as they missed a lot of wide-open shots near the basket, but they would eventually settle down and would hold a narrow 9-8 lead after the first quarter. Junior Sarah Ingerick came alive in the second quarter as she scored 12 of her team-high 24 points to put Wellsboro up 27-27 at the half.
The second half was all Wellsboro as the Lady Hornets outscored Troy 19-15 down the stretch for the victory.
Junior Jada Jackson was second on the team with eight points and 11 rebounds, and Senior Jordan Butters finished with seven. Freshman Rachael Tuttle scored four points and grabbed eight rebounds, Freshman Lizzie Poirier ended with two, and Junior Alexa Singer rounded out the scoring with one point.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 9-9 (3-4 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 29 as they host Wyalusing.
