The Wellsboro Lady Hornet Soccer team took 35 shots and defeated rival Mansfield 8-0 on Tuesday, September 23.
Wellsboro was led by Junior Sarah Ingerick's hat trick. Ingerick scored in the 21st, 63rd, and 78th minutes in addition to seven shots and an assist on the night. Sophomore Kelsey Logan started the scoring in the 5th minute for what would be the winning goal for the Lady Hornets.
Junior Brynn Ripley scored a pair of goals and was sandwiched by Junior Lindsey Graver to put the Lady Hornets up 4-0 at that point before Ingerick and Junior Joey Taft scored the four remaining goals.
Freshman Kailee Clymer recorded her third shut out of the season as she made 2 saves in goal. Also contributing on the night with assists were Senior Lauren Bleggi with two, and Junior Jenny Young, Ingerick, and Logan with one each.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 5-4 (5-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 25 as they host Wyalusing.
