The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team picked up their third win in a row as they shut out Liberty 2-0 on Wednesday, September 24.
Junior Nick Webster scored the Hornets' first goal just 5 minutes into the game as he converted an assist from Junior Sean Dooley to take a 1-0 lead. The Hornets would hold off any Liberty attacks and would add their second goal of the game in the 65th minute as Senior Brieux Thibaut scored with the help of Sophomore Josiah Hill for the winning goal.
"I was very proud of the boys tonight," said head coach John Shaffer. "We had a few guys out and it really took a team effort t get the result. We had guys in new positions and double dressed a couple freshmen and everyone contributed. We have a couple days to try to get healthy before going to Galeton Saturday night."
Senior Jake Mitchell recorded six saves in goal for his eighth shut out of the year.
The JV game ended in a scoreless tie. With the win, the Hornets improve to 8-1 (8-1 NTL) and will be back in action on Saturday, September 27 as they travel to Galeton.
