Senior Blair Carson and Freshman Nathan Cotner finished the 2014 swim season at tthe PIAA Championships on Friday and Saturday.
Cotner swam in the 200 freestyle on Friday, March 14 looking to get his time below 1:50. Cotner did just that as he swam a personal best in the event at 1:49.86 to finish in 20th place.
"It was awesome, it was a great experience," Cotner said. "I just wanted to try and break the 1:50 mark. I didn't want to wait until next year to do that."
Carson had to wait until Saturday morning to swim in the 100 breaststroke. Carson finished 15th in the prelims to advance to the consolation final later in the evening where he swam a 1:02.86 to finish 16th.
All Carson wanted for his trip to states was to get his best time, as it turns out he did more than that.
"Every goal was met," Carson said. "My first goal this season was to get to states and once I got to states my goal was to get my best time.
"It was a great atmosphere," Carson said of the final. "I was really excited, I just came into this to have fun. What a way to end the season."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate both Blair and Nathan on their state performanance and thank them for all their hard work and dedication during the season.
