A goal by Senior Lauren Bleggi gave the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team a 2-1 overtime victory against Sayre on Saturday, October 4.
Wellsboro struck early as Junior Sarah Ingerick scored in the second minute to take a 1-0 lead. Sayre's Jess Hickey would tie the game at 1-1 in the 29th minute before Bleggi made the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime to give the Hornets the NTL victory.
Wellsboro had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks and also out shot the Redskins 16-7. Freshman Kailee Clymer recorded 14 saves on the day and Junior Jenny Young had an assist on the day.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 7-5-1 (7-4-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, October 7 as they host Northeast Bradford.
