The Wellsboro Varsity girls basketball team had trouble stopping the Sayre Redskins as they were defeated 45-11 on Wednesday night.
The Lady Redskins held the Lady Hornets to only six first half points, and only allowed five points in the third quarter. Sayre's Kelly Villanti had a game-high 14 points and Elyse Skerpon and Cheyanna Roberts had 10 points each in the game.
Sophomore Sarah Ingerick led the Lady Hornets with six points, two points from Senior Brooke Kohler and Junior Peyton Wilson, and Sophomore Jenny Young had one point.
In the J.V. game, Sayre defeated Wellsboro 44-19.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-2 on the year. The team will be back in action on Saturday, December 14 as they travel to North Penn.
