The Wellsboro Lady Hornets moved to within one game of .500 with a 64-49 win over Troy Tuesday night.
Senior Mackenzie Marple scored a game-high 26 points, hitting four three-pointers and 10-12 from the free throw line. Marple now has 942 points in her career, just 58 points shy of joining the 1,000 point club. The last Lady Hornet to reach 1,000 career points is Mackenzie's older sister, Alex Marple.
Two more Hornets scored in double figures on the night. Freshman Sarah Ingerick scored 15 points and Senior Hannah Zuchowski contributed 10. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Hornets were Freshman Jada Jackson with six points, Freshman Alexa Singer and Senior Kiana Acorn with two points each, and Senior Kimberly Acorn with one.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets topped Troy to continue their undefeated season.
With the win, the Lady Hornets are now 10-11 (6-3 NTL West) on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, February 14 as they host North Penn in their final regular season game.
