The Wellsboro Varsity golf team took sole possession of the NTL golf lead Tuesday at Corey Creek with a score of 364.
The Hornets once again edged out Towanda, who shot 373 and finished second on the day, by 9 strokes to earn the win.
"I was very happy with how the team played today," said head coach Corey Lewis. "I still think each player could improve a few strokes and will have to next week at Towanda."
Senior Zach Bower and Junior Brett Kendrick shot a team-low 83 on the day, while Senior Blair Carson was third with 90, Sophomore Tyler Kennedy was 4th (108), Senior Garrett Worden was 5th (128), and Sophomore Charles Graner was 6th (140).
The Athens Wildcats finished 3rd on the day with a 378, followed by Mansfield in 4th (379), Northern Tioga in 5th (420), Northeast Bradford in 6th (432), and Sayre in 7th (466).
With the win, the Hornets are now 17-1 on the year. The team will be back in action next Tuesday, September 10 as they travel to Towanda.
