The 2013 Wellsboro Golf team took home second place at Shepard Hills with a score of 355 to finish behind Towanda, who won the match with a team score of 346.
Junior Brett Kendrick led the Hornets with an 88, which tied for the second low score of the day with Towanda's Hunter Gordon. Seniors Blair Carson, Dillan King, and Zach Bower all shot 89, while Sophomore Tyler Kennedy was fifth with 110, and Senior Garrett Worden shot 123.
"Everyone played pretty decent today," said first year head coach Corey Lewis. "We just need to avoid taking big numbers, but I think nervs got to some of the guys being their first match."
Rouding out the rest of the team scores were Athens in 3rd (381), Mansfield in 4th (395), Northeast Bradford in 5th (416), Northern Tioga in 6th (443), and Sayre in 7th (475).
With their second place finish, the Hornets are 5-1 to begin the 2013 season. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, August 27 as they travel to River Valley.
