The Wellsboro Lady Hornets fell to Sayre 52-24 in front of the home crowd on Tuesday night.
The Hornets found themselves in trouble early as Sayre jumped out to a 19-3 1st quarter lead, and they were never able to get any offense going until it was too late.
"We had a very disappointing performance tonight," said head coach Mary Grab. "Their quickness and shooting accuracy offensively combined with terrific man defense with great help side defense kept us out of our game on both ends of the court."
Senior Guard Mackenzie Marple led the Lady Hornets with 8 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds. Senior Kimberly Acorn pitched in 6 points, 1 assist and 2 steals, and Senior Hannah Zuchowski added 4 points and 2 rebounds.
In JV action, the Lady Hornets defeated Sayre 22-18. Freshman Sarah Ingerick led the team with 13 points and Freshman Jada Jackson added 4.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-2 on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, December 13 as they travel to Northeast Bradford.
