Hello Hornet Nation! My name is Steve Boyce, the (old) new Assistant Principal for the High School and Head of Athletics. I am happy to be back home as I am a Wellsboro Graduate from a long time ago! While attending high school in the late 80's I was a member of the Football and Track and Field teams. I was a two-time defensive player of the year, recipient of the Rev. Wade Stewart Memorial Award and was a district champion in the 110 meter hurdles.
Upon graduation from Wellsboro I continued my educational and football career at nearby Mansfield University. While attending Mansfield I was twice named a PSAC Scholar Athlete during my junior and senior years. In football I was a three-year starter attaining PSAC Honor Roll Player of the Week six times, ECAC Honor Roll Player of the Week three times, and named a captain in my senior year. I finished my career with 259 career tackles which places in the top 10 statistically all-time. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
I am entering my 30th year in education having served in many roles along the way. One of those highlights was returning to Wellsboro in 2009 to teach kindergarten and coach football at my alma mater. I left Wellsboro in 2017 for an administrative position in another school district. Eight years later I have returned to work with Wellsboro students again and lead the athletic programs that taught me so much about hard work, dedication, and the importance of always giving your best effort. I am beyond blessed!!!
I look forward to working with the dedicated faculty, staff, and coaches of this great district. Our goal is to produce great kids that are competitive in the classroom, on the playing fields, and in the work force. #GoHornets!!!
